Support for Early Childhood Educators

Launching professional development for the ECE field

Attention Early Childhood Educators! Are you ready to take your career to the next level? You are invited to participate in a professional development course for childcare educators in Elgin County and surrounding area. You will develop workplace communication skills valued by Early Years Centres, Before and After School Programs, Childcare Centres, and more. This training also qualifies as an addition to your CPL (Continuous Professional Learning) portfolio, required by the College of Early Childhood Educators.

Starting on February 5th 2020 and running every Wednesday from 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm for 8 weeks, this informative professional development series is FREE, and includes a light dinner. Classes will be held at Merrymount (579 Talbot Street in St. Thomas) and registration is limited to 15 people. The Skills for Success are the nine skills the Canadian government has identified everyone needs to be successful in work, learning and life. Today we're continuing our look at the Skills for Success by talking about Writing . According to the Canadian government, writing is how we share information using written words, symbols, and images. For example, we use this skill to fill out forms and applications, and write emails, reports and social media posts. Learn more about writing and the other Skills for Success here , and think about the writing you do on an average day, from grocery lists to reminders to homework. If you'd like to build your reading, writing, creativity, problem solving, and other Skills for Success, Ontario's adult literacy programs offer free, individualized training that can help.
