Our Literacy Programs

Literacy and Basic Skills (LBS) programs are available across the province. These programs help adult build their foundational skills for work, learning and life.   


Across the province of Ontario, the LBS system offers free upgrading to help people upgrade their

  • reading
  • writing
  • math
  • digital
  • interpersonal
  • and other skills for success


Whether you want to build skills to help you find and keep a job, return to school, earn a credential, begin or complete an apprenticeship, we can help.


You are eligible to attend an adult upgrading program if you

  • are a resident of Ontario who can legally work in the province (you have a Social Insurance Number)
  • are 18 years or older
  • speak and understand English or French enough to understand the literacy instructor
  • would benefit from skills upgrading

 

There are several programs in our 6-county area. There are some specialized programs to fit the needs of certain cultures and abilities. Programs offer you the opportunity to learn what you need at a flexible pace - online or in person.
