It's focused on developing the unique communication skills required in a child care setting, and includes seven workshops on a series of topics including writing, verbal communication, digital literacy, soft skills, research and reporting.
This curriculum was developed through a partnership between Literacy and Basic Skills (LBS) and Early Childhood Educators. Literacy Link South Central would like to thank curriculum developers Carolyn Little (RECE, RC) and Helen Krygsman for their expertise. Note: originally created in 2019, this series was updated in December 2022 to ensure links to online resources were current and accurate.
About the ECE Participant Workbook and Journal
The Participant Workbook includes supporting material and activities for all seven workshops. The Reflection Journal provides participants with an opportunity to respond to several questions after each session, which will be discussed in the session that follows.
Please print one copy of each document for your participants.
A note about printing: The Reflection Journal should be printed on 8.5” x 11” paper, with your printer set to print on both sides of the paper, flipping on the short edge. Once printed, it can be folded in half and stapled at the 5.5” mark to create a booklet.
The Participant Workbook should be printed on 8.5” x 11” paper, with your printer set to print on both sides of the paper, flipping on the long edge. It can be stapled or put into a small binder.
